The Estonian ensemble Radar was formed in 1978
After five years of colaboration with the popular singer Yak Yoalla, the group decided to specialize in instrumental music. In 1982, 1983, 1984 Radar won the Grand Prize, and in 1985 the group received it to forever, on "Days of Music" in Tartu - the most prestigious forum in Estonia. In the same year the group received recognition as the best instrumental ensemble, performing the pieces presented in this compilation. The audience noted new members of the ensemble - a guitarist and composer of "Sun Kick" - Valery Belinov and young bassist, who demonstrated a fundamental solo in this composition, Paul Kikerpuu. The skill of the other members of the group has long been known. The circle of listeners of vocal music is much wider than the instrumental. Radar's music is much more complicated than an ordinary song. We hear here at the same time several harmonic layers and melodic motifs, accompanied by a modern pulsating rhythm section using ethnic percussion. Themes has developing into widely plot improvisations. Voices and coloring of sounds create a multi-stage audio-row. An attentive listener will discover new sound-scapes with each listening
